Teeens: what are some trends in your school/city?
I'm a teen and I love studying trends for other teens in different cities.What's your city? What are some trends in:- Style- Groups (scene, preppy, hipster, indie...)- Speech/slang- Media (movies, music, shows)- Anything else?I've noticed in reallly small towns, most teens like to be in the same group, usually preppy. Wearing holister or aeropostale... I live in Santa Fe:Most teens are hipsters, artsy...We mostly shop at thrift stores, goodwill, garage sales and such.A lot of people say "dick yeeeah!" ahahaa. And jussayin'.Everyone's really into Harry Potter and musicals. A lot of people reeeally hookahs for sale in miami hate Glee because it's become so mainstream.Everyone here (that matters..) goes to the historic district of santa fe on the weekends and just hangout in large groups. Usually the musicians who play guitar bring their guitars, and we sit in a large circle in the grass and smoke hookah and play guitar and sing. We're SUPER artsy. And we're mostly literate. We don't use text lingo.Your turn[:I'm no troll..I enjoy anthropology very much. Study how other cities' teenage group can be so different.I'm 15, by the way. Santa Fe is one of the most artsy cities in the country.So yes, we are mostly hipsters and indiekids. But we say we're artsy kids.I forgot about music! We listen to indie music very much. Indie rock, alternative, a lot of Folk music.AHHH I love the input everyone!Thanks so much!More about SF:There's a biiig ukulele trend. I honestly believe a lot of it was form me. I bought a uke in 8th grade (I'm in 10th now). I went downtown a lot just walkin' around playing it... and EVERYONE has one now. It's pretty cool.Another big trend is wearing large clear glass thick rimmed glasses.Another thing is we make fun of tourists A LOT.There's so many here. They always wear the most ridiculous safari costumes.Japanese is quite the thing here. A lot of people are learning it.
