This neat little book is right up my alley, as a native Virginian historian, on the old-fashioned ways of doing things in the olden days! Liked it!

homemade shisha gone awry?
hey all! ^_^ just recently tried to make my own homemade shisha, and sadly it turned out quite badly 8*( I tried to make a simple apple shisha. -half an apple (red) diced 30% -equivalent amount of tobacco 20% honey+glycerin (25/25%), now as far as how much not all too sure I sorta guesstimated that as I was mixing it. I simmered the apples a bit to rid of most of the moisture. Then allowed the mix to marinate over night. Just a while ago I decided Homemade Hookah to smoke it and there was no real flavor at all. now I realize I may not have used as much apple as alot of others may, but there was enough for at least a bowl and a half made. It had a very thin taste, the smoke was not thick at all, and it almost tasted like I was smoking woodchips X_X nothing like an artificial apple taste, which imo tastes better in a smoke than the real thing XD Is molasses suggested instead? or maybe green apples? are there any particulars that I may not have done? I have never been able to find any particularly good smoke in the U.S. the last place I had a good session with a hookah was in kuwait. So that sorta explains my attempts at homemade shisha lol, this is my first time trying to make it XP thx, but no I know how to prepare shisha, I've smoked it for years and have several pipes. It's simply that I've never tried making homemade shisha, and was wondering maybe anyone would know whereabouts I went wrong.

This book is a wonderful aid for those who want to add a creative (and helpful) touch to their home, garden, or farm. The ideas presented in the book offer something for every level of crafts-person. The drawings are clear, uncluttered and easy to understand and follow. The directions are concise yet full of information. The projects will blend in to any home. A wonderful book for the beginner!

The pictures in this book are just terrific- clear, well-drawn, and simple in that pre-digital, 70’s pen-and-ink style that makes me downright nostalgic. And there are a lot of things in the book that I didin’t know I needed until I saw them- how about a tool cleaner? Put sand in a large container, mix in used oil, and store your tools in the sand/oil mix. They come out not just cleaned, but already oiled, too. Also inside: multiple composters, a cold frame, a root cellar, feeders, brooders, bird houses, chairs, benches, fencing, gates- and you can probably build them most of them just by looking at the pictures. It’s like having a cool great-uncle teach you old farm tricks.
