Feeling Trapped in a Relationship..?
My guy and I have been together for coming up on a year now, and I've been feeling trapped for a long time.. I'll give you some examples. I really need some advice =/a) whenever I make a new friend, even a girl, he criticizes them like no tomorrow and makes them seem like a bad person for me to be friends with, and like I can't go hang out with them EVER. And if it's a guy? Forget about it. If I talk to any guy, I'm automatically thinking about cheating and leaving him, and the guy is automatically checking me out 24/7 wanting to get with me.b) he can't stand the fact that one of my best friends is a guy. His birthday was just the other day and I wrote on his facebook wall "happy birthday! <3" and my boyfriend confronted me about it saying it was "weird". I got mad because we've been over this thousands of times that he's like a brother to me, but he just can't get over it. Just now he came over and was trying to hug on me acting like nothing happened and I told him I'm not in the mood, and he got all upset saying I'm acting dramatic and weird about this whole thing.c) my biggest passion ever since I was little is horseback riding and he loves to workout for a hobby. He can workout all he wants whenever he wants, but when i bring up that hookah flavours list I would like to look into riding while I'm away from home, he shoots down my idea because we "don't have money", and yet he can do everything he wants, like going to martial arts and blowing money on that whenever he's "in the mood" for it.d) I love to travel. I plan on moving overseas after college, and he says "yeah I'd love to do that too", but when I really bring it up that I'd like to start looking at places to move to, he says "no I want to wait a year before we move over there after school, if I even still want to, my job will probably be in California". And then to all his friends he says "yeah we're gonna move to Germany a few years after college". he does this with a LOT of things. Not just traveling.e) We live in an apartment together that is non-smoking, but I still smoke up here whenever he's gone since we live in the city. I asked him about buying a hookah for us to smoke flavored tobacco out of instead of paying money to go to the hookah bar when we could sit at home and smoke one and watch a movie comfortably. He absolutely refuses to make agreements with me about things that involve OUR apartment.f) the biggest thing that bothers me is this.... whenever we get into an argument, it's practically against the law/a sin/just plain not right of me to call or text or IM my best friend (not the guy, my girl best friend) and talk to her about it. All hell breaks loose if he finds out.g) he doesn't appreciate anything involving family, even though he tries to impress them so much. I live 6 hours from home, including my beloved horse, and he only lives 2 hours away, and his parents visit every month. He doesn't want to spend any time with his parents, especially at home, because he doesn't want to leave me by myself. For Christmas this year, guess who's coming to my house with me, because he can barely stand to go to class for 4 hours because he misses me so much?I've tried talking to him about everything on this list and so much more, but it seems like the only time that anything gets through his head is when someone else tells him, like a therapist. I tell him these things everyday, but when someone else tells him, it's like a freakin revolution or something like he is a new person and he's automatically different.I just really need help... I don't know if I could stand breaking up with him, but I don't know if I can do this anymore. We've come so close to breaking up one time, but I couldn't do it. I really need some advice =/I'm sorry this is so long, but I needed to get it out somewhere and I'll really appreciate if someone reads it all...
