Spice Grinder Significant Tip

This item is not robust. After 4 uses, the internal motor jammed and the unit no longer worked. Very disappointing.

Single-Sized Black Pepper w/ Grinder?
When I lived in Italy, I bought black pepper at the supermarket. It was packaged in a small glass bottle like all the other spices (cinnamon, curry, basil, etc) but inside Spice Grinder the bottle there were whole peppercorns and the bottle had a mini-grinder inside. This was sold alongside the other spices and only cost about EUR 3 for the full bottle with mini-grinder. When all the pepper was finished, you threw out the bottle and bought a new one (instead of refilling the grinder). Does anyone know the brand name of a company that sells something similar in North America?

I was looking for a spice grinder that would do flax seed well and I’m pleased with how well this one works. Good for anything else I’ve used it for too.

  2. Bick says:

I use this to grind my lentils, coffee beans and various dried herbs which I use in my herbal packs to shampoo and condition my hair and it has been a real lifesaver.

  3. Colbert says:

I’ve been using my Krups grinder for a few years now with no problems & no complaints. Highly recommend…A+++++

  4. Knoll says:

This is the best of all the coffee grinders available. It’s fast, complete and makes the grind fine. After my old (15 years) one stopped working it was a quick choice to replace it with a new one of the same. Love this product.

  5. Higgins says:

This is a great grinder for very fine grinding when regular pepper mill won’t do.

  6. Gable says:

This grinder is made for seeds. I have dried oregano, basil, sage and parsley and none of them will go through the grinder.

  7. Jason says:

If you have a lot of whole spices or coarse salt mixes that need to be ground, this is a wonderful system for storing and grinding them all. I actually gave this as a gift and then immediately wanted one for myself as well! I think this is going on my list of gift ideas for all the cooks in my life.

It is very easy to swap out one jar for another. The grinding mechanism is smooth and easy to use. And the design is elegant. What more could you want?

  8. Gabel says:

I have an old Rikon grinder that has been working great for years. This new version with the interchangeable jars is fantastic—and far less messy.

  9. Holte says:

If you have a lot of seasonings that need to be ground, you’ll want to buy these extra jars to go with your Kuhll Rikon vase spice grinder. They work like a charm.

  10. Evanoff says:

Cute little containers. Unfortunately they do not fit in my Kuhn Rikon Vace Spice Grinder. I have the device they were selling before they made the one that will take a refill. It’s too bad the explanation does not include the data that you need a certain model of this Spice Grinder. Maybe someday I will be able to get the correct product to utilize these as intended.

  11. Cordova says:

This product is wonderful. There is nothing like fresh nutmeg to set off your taste buds. The product came to me on time and not damaged in any way. I will be ordering from this company again.

  12. Ferrante says:

This does what it was meant to do, grind nuts, and spices, even dried bread into bread crumbs. It is handy, as it is not too bulky and not difficult to take out and put away. I haven’t tried coffee yet, but I imagine it would work fine in limited quantities. Cleans easily.

  13. Irving says:

I’ve returned two of these, normal use with nuts and spices in small amounts. The first died on the very first use, and I got another only because of the positive reviews here. The second burned out after four or five uses. There’s some problem with the motor, and the blade design just doesn’t seem suited to nuts. Skip this one and get something else.

  14. Eisenberg says:

This does not grind nuts. The nuts get stuck in the blades and the blades will not turn. If you want it to grind nuts forget it. I have tried many different kinds of nuts and it does not work for any of them except maybe pecans. It did grind flax seeds, but not well. This is an expensive grinder that is not worth it. I am so sorry I got this product. I am throwing it out.

  15. Irish says:

My old Cuisinart Spice grinder finally gave out after 15+ years. I needed an appliance that could grind leather hard citrus peel into dust.(I’m a soap maker). My Cuisinart food processor could not do it. The Cuisinart Spice grinder made quick work of a difficult medium to grind. The motor did not bog or overheat. I am VERY pleased with it’s performance.

  16. James says:

Grinds my flax seeds wonderfully, but it takes quite a lot of twisting to get a fair amount of ground product on your plate. Still, I would buy it again.
